This week’s Carbon Pricing Scheme announcements have stirred debate amongst many sectors of our community, none more so that the business sector which will feel the impact of the tax in the hip pocket and on their balance sheets.

The Mobile Carriers Forum and representatives from Telstra, Optus and VHA met this week with Paul Lucas, Deputy Premier, Attorney-General, Minister for Local Government and Special Minister of State for Queensland.

The pilot of Australia’s first energy efficiency training program specifically designed for employees within the mobile network industry to help reduce emissions, offset the rising costs of electricity and reduce risk to energy supply has been launched.

Last night, AMTA CEO Chris Althaus and the Mobile Carriers Forum Program Manager, Matt Evans, addressed the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) CEO Forum Dinner in Melbourne. This annual Forum covers important issues for local government and attracts 80% of Victoria’s 79 Council Chief Executive officers.
